I am still a HUGE fan of a real Christmas tree! My mom has ALWAYS had a real tree, so I can't really imagine otherwise. We always get a Frasier Fir from Lowe's or Home Depot. This year it was Home Depot. Usually my dad and I go to pick out two trees, one for their house and one for ours. This was my first year to not be a part of it. However, Dad and Wes did a WONDERFUL job picking out the perfect tree!!!
I wish I had counted as I was hanging ornaments on my tree! There is hardly a bare limb left :) A favorite from this pic is Kenadie's little hand print at 6 months old. Her foot is on the tree somewhere :)
As you can see, our tree is filled with a variety of different ornaments. When Wes and I were growing up, my mom gave us an ornament every year. Then, when we got married, we got to take the ornaments with us. They all mean something different and are special in their own way.
We couldn't forget Dora! I'm doing the same thing for Kenadie that my mom did for us. The only problem... I think she gets about 5 ornaments per year :) Again, they DO have some sort of significance :)
This is the oldest ornament on our tree. It was "My First Christmas" and my mom painted it :)
The next picture is of our ever trusty tree stand! Yes, it was purchased in 2004 AFTER our tree fell :( If you are in the market for the sturdiest tree stand ever, here it is at Lowes.
We have almost been in this house one year and we actually looked at it during the Christmas holidays, so it was all decorated for Christmas when we saw it. I immediately noticed a small problem, but not enough to not buy the house... no fireplace/mantle??? "Hmmm... where on earth will I hang Kenadie's stocking, I thought?" Well... thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law, Joy... she solved my problem!
I have a few of my Gail Pittman ornaments on the garland. I only put up six. I have visions of it falling and breaking every one! So far, so good! It's been up about 12 hours and hasn't appeared to have moved yet. Maybe I will just hang one on there a day so that it gradually gets use to the added weight :) Last but not least, Kenadie's own little decoration that she's pretty proud of :)
Merry Christmas and happy decorating!
Love this post, Lindsey :)
