I almost cried

All this week, Kenadie has been learning about community helpers at school.  They've done all sorts of fun things like turn their classroom into a grocery store, made chef hats and tomorrow they're making doctor kits.  Last week, she came home with a picture of a "blank" person that she was supposed to draw/decorate/color like what she wanted to be when she grew up.  We've been discussing it all week, talking about what her "person" would be.  She's gone from wanting to be a ballerina to "doing what Daddy does at work" even to becoming a chef, which I'm not really seeing in her future, seeings how  she isn't remotely in to food... well, unless it's chocolate perhaps :)  She and I sat down at the table this afternoon to make her person, and she had a new occupation for me.  Take a look at what she wants to be :)  Made my heart smile.
and for an up close look...
She told me she wants to be a Mommy!  She told me "because the things I do look fun and she wants to do what I do."  When I asked her specifically what I did that looked fun, this was her response:

"You take different vitamins than me and I want to take the ones you do.  You get to hold dangerous breakable dishes, and that looks fun.  I want to cook like you and fix my own drinks.  You color with me, play games and play with my toys with me.  You get to hold Berkley a lot and you give us hugs."

Okay, so she just scored some major points on that one :)  Aaron, did you put her up to this???  We talked about how you had to have children in order to be a mommy.  I asked her how many children she may want, and told her that God gave me two children to love.  She said "Mommy, I'm going to ask God for four children."  :)  So, in her picture, that's why she drew four children.  She also gave herself a purse, some jewelry, a bow, a house, a cup with a straw, and my favorite... the fingers and toes :)  She also drew her person wearing the clothes I have on today, minus the jewelry of course :)  She has no idea how our time spent together at the table making this today, made my day!!!  I sure do love what I grew up to be :)

Bored or clever... Not reall sure?

Who needs these...
When you've got this...
This little girl has more toys than she knows what to do with!  Does she play with them?  Barely!  Was she COMPLETELY obsessed with this backpack that she fashioned out of her coloring book pages?  Absolutely!  Now, we did have to repair the straps on it just about every hour, but we sure got our money's worth out of that coloring book!!!

Kenadie, I'm not sure exactly what you're going to be when you grow up, but it's very safe to say, you will definitely be creating stuff of some sort :)  Let's not forget that when you were three, one of your favorite Christmas presents was your very own tape dispenser!  And that very tape dispenser is what made this backpack possible :)  You definitely think outside of the box, and that makes me happy because someone who is as OCD as myself practically lives inside a box, for fear of doing something "wrong." ;)

What she says...

Just need to record a few more of Kenadie's funnies...

"Mommy, I just told Berkley that we were going to be friends forever!  And when I'm four and she turns four, we're going to be twins!"

(At Christmas)
Kenadie: "I want to help you decorate the tree."
Lindsey: "Well you can, I just have to get it ready first."
Kenadie: "Well, what part can I help with?"
Lindsey: "You can help me hang the ornaments."
Kenadie: "Ok, well I want to hang the breakable ones."

(At bedtime)
"If you don't yawn, that means you're not sleepy, and I didn't yawn today."

"Mommy, I want Berkley's birthday to be boy-like and lady-like, and that way it will be pretty.  And then, everyone in the city will know that they are invited!"

(Playing I spy)
"I spy something on one of those two pictures that's sitting next to Berkley."  She gave it away, just a little, huh?

"Do you know what I'm going to give Daddy for his next birthday?  A BIG grown up princess cup, and that way, when I drink out of mine, he can drink out of his, and we will be the same!"

(At bedtime)
Aaron: "Do you want to sing a song?"
Kenadie: "Two songs"
Aaron: "One song"
Kenadie: "Daddy, do you want me to give you a kiss in the morning?"
Aaron: "yes"
Kenadie: "Well, if you do, then we've got to sing two songs.  That's just what we've got to do!"

Kenadie: "Mommy, do you like me just the way I am?"
Lindsey: "I love everything about you!  I love your brown eyes.  I love your brown hair."
Kenadie: "I don't have brown hair, Mommy.  It's tan."
Lindsey: "Yeah, well I guess I should have said light brown."
Kenadie: "No Mommy, it's just tan.  My hair is tan.  Tan is what color it is."

(First thing in the morning after telling me about her dream...)
"You should have dreamed it too so you could have seen it!"

Daddy & Princess Dinner

Last Friday night, our church put together a sweet time for Daddy's/Grandfather's and their daughters/granddaughters aka "Princesses!" :)  Aaron picked Kenadie up promptly upon his arrival home from work, and they headed to church for a fun "date" just the two of them!  I knew he wasn't about to take my 3rd arm camera, but he did agree to snap a few pics with the phone :)  Not the best quality, but at least I got something, right?  And... since we wouldn't want to hurt his "accounting style" image or anything... I thought he did a good job capturing the night for me, and whatever he didn't get a picture of, Kenadie made sure to fill me in on all of the details, practically painting me a picture with her words ;)  If I'm really being honest, I rely on my camera a little too much that when I'm away from it, I begin to have anxiety...  So, it was probably for the best that it was at home with me and Berkley, just in case she decided to do something adorably cute! :)

First up, was the limo ride that picked them up and took them to the main entrance of the church.  It is my understanding that there were two Hummers going, one white and one pink.  Take one guess at what color they waited in line for upon her request :)
I think the TV she sat in front of was a favorite.  She is STILL talking about "Mommy, do you know how hilarious it was seeing that dog chase the cat!!!"
She also thought it was "so hilarious, Mom" how much food she had on her plate :)  Kudos to Daddy for taking a picture of her plate! ;)
The cupcake bar was a huge hit!!!  She chose a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing.  I think I see some chocolate sprinkles, Oreos and then topped off with some conversation hearts :)  What can I say?  The girl loves some chocolate!!!
As you can see, a fun time was had by all!  She's already telling him what she wants to do on their next date.  Just hoping she's not expecting a limo :)

A rough day...,

Boy, had I forgotten how rough the 12 month check-up was :(  That's what Berkley and I entertained ourselves with yesterday while Kenadie was at school.  10:00 appointment, means you leave your house around 9:30, means Berkley's nap got cut a little short, means your start of the day isn't quite at its full potential for your child to be tortured... But you do all this at this time because you really only want to take one of your precious jewels with you to this appointment :)  We check in, we quickly respond to the receptionist that "yes, we do want to have our eyes checked", we're sent straight to the lab, who immediately sends us to the exam room, where we proceed to get one shot in each arm and one in the leg, AND find out that we have a "significant" ear infection that no fever ever accompanied.  This is our second one to have like this, neither with having fever.  Pair the unknown infection with 3 teeth coming in, that pretty much made for one grumpy little girl last week...  We get our cute clothes put back on, only to get a nice blood stain on from our finger prick to check her iron.  Lastly came the eye exam, which wasn't a big deal, but pair that with all of the above factors I've mentioned, and so, sitting in a dark room with a fussy baby, watching red flashing lights, which would normally have entertained Berkley, just wasn't all that fun today!  Whew!  On a positive note, all looked well with her development, and she's a healthy little girl, both of which I'm super thankful for!

Weight: 20 lbs. 14oz. (50th%)
Height: 28 1/2 inches (80th%)
Head circumference: 17 5/8 inches (40th%)

At 12 months: You have 4 teeth, and 3 that are on their way!  You took your very last bottle last night, and that makes me sad :(  You are still on a wheat free diet, which seems to help your eczema/rash problems.  You are drinking soy milk.  Whole milk seemed to aggravate your skin,  but milk in foods seems to be okay.  Carrots and bananas are favorites, along with the turkey sausage you discovered Sunday!  You take two naps a day, go to bed around 7:30 and sleep until about 6:30.  Your favorite thing to do is play/climb on Kenadie's bed :)  You are giggly with excitement when doing this!  You say "da da" and "ma ma" and some other gibberish sounds :)  You are still rear facing and in your infant car seat, which goes up to 30 lbs.  You will STILL sleep in it, like, we can STILL take you in a restaurant and you stay asleep!  Yea, your sweet sister NEVER did that!!!  You are very content in your car seat, and I really don't know how much you would like to be forward facing because you wouldn't be able to see Kenadie as well, and you LOVE that!  She is your playmate at all times in the car because she's just sweet like that :)  So for now, we will keep you rear facing.  You are wearing 12 month clothes and in a stage 3 diaper.

And because I couldn't do a post without including a picture in it...  I love this one!...  Kenadie made her "necklace" and she just seemed so proud of it!  She kept this smile on her face the entire time she had it on :)
