Wow! Was this Christmas ever so fun!!! They just keep getting better and better. The festivities began the Monday night before Christmas. We had Christmas with Aaron's family and enjoyed our traditional boiled shrimp dinner.

Probably not the first Christmas picture you were expecting, but just needed to document that I rolled Kenadie's hair for the first time :) and she liked it :)and I think we will add this to our routine!

Papaw reading the Christmas story.

and it's safe to say that Kenadie is super into opening gifts! Last year she fell asleep just before we opened gifts Christmas morning...that certainly won't be happening anymore :)

She loved Mrs. Honey's Hat, her My Little Pony's and...

her dress-up clothes, but we especially loved...

hearing her sing "Away In A Manger." Pure preciousness ;)
Next up was Christmas Eve.

We always attend the Christmas Eve service at the church where Aaron's family goes, as well as where he grew up going. Then we go to one set of his grandparents for dinner and gift giving. After that visit, we head to his other grandparents for more gifts and visiting. Just a little envious of Aaron as he still has both sets of his grandparents :) Sure do miss mine!

Papaw is just too funny!
After all Christmas Eve rounds had been made, it was time to go home and...

put out our special sparkly reindeer food and...

milk and cookies for Santa! Kenadie decorated these cookies all by herself. I was a bit impressed :) I especially loved the inch thickness of sprinkles she put on top :)
And while one tired little girl was dreaming sweet dreams...

Santa visited the Zumwalt house :) It's only fitting to note right here that our once beautiful live Christmas tree, decided to NEVER drink one drop of water. I didn't realize how pitiful it looked until I saw my parent's tree...

It's 6:30 and she's excited to see what Santa left. She actually ended up being more concerned about Santa's cookies and milk. That was what she woke up asking about :)

We enjoyed having Papa and Kay Kay spend the night with us. After our traditional breakfast casserole and sticky bun Christmas breakfast prepared by Kay Kay, Kenadie opened her gifts from me and Aaron.

And, in an effort to drag Christmas out a little bit longer, after opening gifts at our house, we got ready and went to my parents house where Kenadie took a three hour nap, and I helped Mom prepare our Christmas dinner. After Sleeping Beauty awoke, she had all the gifts from my parents to open. I guess you could say she just about opened gifts for an entire 24 hour period, minus sleeping :)

Notes for me about Christmas 2010:1) Kenadie was very much into the opening of gifts!
2) Kenadie being 3 was the perfect year that she started to get more into Christmas and is starting to piece together the true meaning of Christmas and celebrating Jesus' birthday.
3) The "big pink racecar" that was the only thing on her list, is apparently more fun to sit in in Toys R Us than one being in our living room. But, after 36 hours, she warmed up to it and has decided that she DOES indeed like it :)
4) We met "Jingles" our elf and enjoyed having him with us for the month of December.
5) This was the first year that Kenadie sat happily with Santa.
6) Kay Kay and I enjoyed making homemade candy: butterfinger bars, peppermint bark, peanut butter balls and chocolate covered pecans.
7) The tradition continued with Papa and Kay Kay as we went to eat at Outback and then went to see the Lewis Lights in Purvis.
8) We enjoyed doing our countdown to Christmas day calendar.
9) The Sunday before Christmas, they had a birthday party for Jesus in Kenadie's Sunday school class. When we picked her up after worship, I pieced together that she had one cupcake during the Sunday school hour and another cupcake during the worship service hour. We then went to eat lunch at Mazzios after church where she told us she wasn't hungry, but insisted she have a brownie :) And being the extra nice parents we are at Christmas time, we gave in to it... I guess it is aiding in me trying to teach her the difference between healthy foods and junk foods...
10) I had the majority of my Christmas shopping done the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and it was very nice to get to enjoy the Christmas season more spent having family time than going shopping every weekend until Christmas like I usually do.
11) Don't wait to order Kay Kay's album on Dec. 11th thinking it had plenty of time to get here by Christmas. Try to get that done ASAP after Thanksgiving. A book ordered on Dec. 11th didn't arrive until Dec. 23rd... a little too close for comfort!
12) I was 34 weeks pregnant on Christmas... only about 5 weeks to go!!!
13) I sure did enjoy how my gingerbread ornaments smelled on my little tree in the kitchen.
