My Rhinestone CowGIRL

Who doesn't love a little cowgirl???
Especially when she's this cute!
And...she has a pretty adorable class too!
The week we were in Atlanta, see post below, was the week Kenadie's class was doing a cowboy unit.  She returned to school on the day that they could dress-up like cowboys, so I was happy she didn't miss that, however, I hated to break it to her...well, actually I just didn't tell her, that she missed 3 whole days of cowboy/horse related activities!  The girl has a serious passion for horses!!!  I definitely see horseback riding lessons in her future!  And Papa, if you're reading this, she says you are getting her a black horse, to be named "Blacker", for her 10th birthday!  Don't know where that came from, but she's not backing down!  She throws it out at random just like anything else she tells me :)

Have a happy weekend!  I know we sure will!  We've got a special little girl's 5th birthday to celebrate!!!

Fun in Atlanta!

Soooo... my blog posts seem to be getting fewer and farther between :(  Who knew life with two children who weren't even "school-aged" could be so hectic?!?  Well, it sure is!  I have a few blog worthy things that happened this month that I wanted to post about before November!  Can't believe I'm even saying that!!!  Wow!  It's 90 degrees and we're one week away from November!

At the beginning of the month, Aaron invited us to tag along with him to Atlanta, and seeings how I DO love a road trip, I wasn't turning it down!  You don't have to twist my arm to escape doing laundry, cooking & cleaning for a few days!  How easy would life be if all you had to do was care for your children and eat out every meal!!!  I could get use to that :)

Aaron attended the NRECA regional conference, and we girls did not!  We're more about the lounging around in the room, meeting up for lunch, going to build-a-bear and playing at the park!  You know, fun things like that :)

Lunch at Johnny Rockets!
Lots of fun was had by ALL at the Children's Museum!
Loves to shop like Mommy :)
 Making Papa proud :)
Need a board like this at home!
Aaron got in on the fishing action too :)
A little stiff... but I liked the colors of the wall behind them :)
 Berkley + iPad = happiness!!!
 Who doesn't loves matching jammies?!?
Berkley adding a little CHEESE to our picture!
 Build-A-Bear goods!
Thanks, Aaron for including us :)  Let's do it again sometime!

Meet Darla: Kitty World Traveler

Well, today started out like any other.  Papa picked up Kenadie for school, Berkley and I hung around washing clothes, playing with babies, Little People etc...  At 11:20, we loaded up and headed to get Kenadie, have lunch and then get ready for dance. Just our typical Tuesday.

About a month ago, we welcomed Darla the kitty into our family.  She's a sweet little kitten who is trying to find her way to becoming an outside cat.  She is loved, petted, strolled, like literally in a doll stroller, and is all-in-all, a very well cared for cat, inside.  We've been trying to make the transition of getting Darla to become one with the great outdoors.  I personally need a fierce lizard catcher on guard at ALL times!  Her days indoors are numbered, or so I thought...

Okay, so back to me and Berkley leaving around 11:20 this morning... the best way I know how to tell this little story is just with a sequence of events, listed out in comma-like fashion.  Here we go:  We travel down I59 20 miles to go get Kenadie from school, stay parked at church for about an hour and a half while we eat and get changed for dance, drive about 2 miles over to dance, make a run to Walmart while Kenadie's hour long dance class takes place, go back to pick up Kenadie from dance, travel back down I59 about 20 miles to Papa & Kay Kay's house where we stay for about 2 hours while Kenadie & Berkley nap and for me to get in some QT with Kay Kay!

As we are about to load up and head home, Kay Kay says "there's a cat under your car."  Kenadie looks and says "that looks like our cat."  My thoughts go immediately to Miss Pretty who went missing a few months back.  I look under the car, and to my surprise, IT'S DARLA!!!  Do you know what that means?!?!  Sweet little Darla kitty, rode with us on all of those many stops, which lasted for about 6 hours!!!  Unbelievable, YES!!!   So, in a nutshell, Darla rode about 40 miles down the interstate going 74 mph, went to Walmart, tagged along to dance, and hung out for 2 hours while we were at my parents, without us ever even suspecting she was anywhere other than home!!!  I think it's safe to say we'll just let her stay inside for a little bit longer!!!  And, it also got me to wondering, did I quite possibly "deposit" Miss Pretty somewhere like I almost did Darla???  It remains a mystery :)

Some day you'll ask for my autograph...

or maybe not, but, hey... ya never know :)  I introduced to Facebook that Kenadie was playing soccer, but I haven't mentioned it here.  So... without further adieu, meet my little soccer star and her super awesome coach!
Today was their first game, and it was almost more cuteness than I could stand!!!  We left for the game in  our black side jersey, but discovered we needed to reverse it and be red when we got there.  That's just for you super clothing observant people, like myself :) who may have wondered in the upcoming pics why she was in a different color :)  Their jersey is reversible and when they're the "home" team they wear red, black when we're the visitor.  Ok, glad we got that out of the way!!! I know my reader would have been wondering :)
She is having so much fun, and will tell you how much she loves it, however, she may sometimes look like this...
Or, you may overhear her say "Now, is that what you wore to our last practice?" Or, "Mommy, that little girl way over there on that other team has shoes on like me!!!"
Don't let the above statements fool you though, I was encouraging her to run to the other side and try to get the ball, and she was quick to tell me "Mommy, I'm on defense!!!  Daddy put me here to watch the goal!"  See what I know about soccer?!? :)
She had some fairly good moves on defense and when asked where she learned those moves, she informed us dance :)
This is when she was thinking she was hot and wanted that after game snack!
First on the agenda for next practice... review how to shake hands with the other team when the game is over :)
There's Berkley, the supportive little sister!!!
Great job, Owls!!!  Can't wait for next Saturday's game!!!

Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's Off To School I Go!

First day of K4!  What blows my mind is that this is the age I taught before children, and I thought they were "big kids" back then!  News Flash: 4 year olds are still very much babies!!!
Kenadie with her sweet teacher, Mrs. Tara, along with "Pretty" the cat!  Everyone got to bring their favorite stuffed animal on the first day of school :)
What a cute door to go in every day!
I snapped this one today, 3rd day of school, and before I could take my lens cover off, Berkley had promptly found her spot at the table and was already busy at work!  Thanks B for not making a scene when it was time to go!  She displayed some major self-control, I tell ya :)  Kudos, I know that one was hard!
We've got one more day to go to school this week!  This mama is having some adjustment issues with having to be somewhere 5 days a week!!!  I haven't had to do this in about 5 years!  Happy almost weekend!!!  I'm thinking there will be an ice cream stop after school tomorrow!

Berkley goes to Mommie & Me

Yesterday was a fun day for Berkley!  Our Mommie & Me class started back up, and with Kenadie going five days a week to preschool this year, we look forward to being faithful participants :)  We had a great time, and look forward to spending our Monday mornings with our new friends!
Singing the welcome song to Berkley, while she has her turn in "the chair." :)
Mrs. Madalene reads a story!
And since Kenadie started school today (Tuesday), we figured we would let her come with us!
If only Berkley was just a little better at making such a solemn face :)...  Despite how emotionless she appears in the above picture, she had a great time and I know she can't wait to go back next week!!!

She said it...

"Mommy, I know why Berkley wears night time diapers... that way she will know it's night time and she wears day time diapers so she will know it's day!"

Lindsey: "Oh Kenadie, I wish I wasn't so sleepy."
Kenadie: "Well Mommy, that's just how God made you!"

"Mommy, you're the best mommy I've ever had!"

"The reason I got louder while I was saying my prayer was because I wanted to make sure God could hear me."

"Mommy, remember that time Berkley was in your tummy and you let me pick her to be a girl?"

"Please tell me that dogs don't eat people!"

Mommy, remember that time you were cutting that string off my shorts?  Well, I was scared you were going to cut my leg and then I would bleed.  Ya know, bleeding is just not one of my favorite things to do!"

Lindsey talking to Aaron on phone: "You will not believe!  This lady in Walmart, who was severely overweight, COULD NOT get over how fat Berkley was!!!  Can you believe that?  She's always in the 50% on weight, it's not like she's THAT big!  And really, if I'm being honest, I have seriously never seen a larger gluteus maximus than hers!"  I use the term gluteus maximus so that Kenadie won't know what I've just said...
Kenadie from backseat: "Mom, did you know your gluteus maximus is your bottom?"
