Welcome To The No Cavity Club

I'll give you one guess where we went for the first time today...
That's right, we went to the dentist! I have actually been dreading this from the time Kenadie turned two when our pediatrician recommended we visit the dentist, just for a check-up. Well... she will be two until October, so I guess we technically followed our doctor's order :) I opted to wait until she was "mature" enough to somewhat understand and be forewarned as to what we were going to do. I would say overall, she did pretty well. She didn't quite hold up to her end of the deal totally, but at the same time, it was nowhere near the disaster it had the potential to be. I realize that no children enjoy going to doctor visits, however; we were the EXTREME patient who would nearly throw up from getting SO upset. I picked up on from her doctor once that she was a pretty severe case-ha! We're getting there though :)She couldn't see--too bright. She had a GREAT time in the waiting room... wouldn't you have :) I'll say it was pretty tempting when she invited me to "come aboard the ship, Mom." :) And on the subject of "Mom", I would appreciate it if she went back to calling me "Mommy" like any two year old should??? I certainly haven't encouraged this "Mom" talk in the least! I always refer to myself as "Mommy" :)She managed to dry up her tears enough to see the toys in the treat box. She chose purple play-dough!

After our visit to the dentist, we met our dear, dear friends for lunch, and that made EVERYTHING better! The End :)

School Days

School is in session at our house, it's just not where I thought it would be 3 1/2 years ago when I put Kenadie on a 2 year old preschool waiting list. Yes, 3 1/2 years ago before she was even born :) Prior to Kenadie, I taught 4 year old preschool for two years. I loved seeing all of the precious 2 year olds and thought "That will soon be my little girl." Well... I didn't exactly know 3 1/2 years ago that we would move 45 minutes away from this preschool, and now that we have, I just can't justify driving 45 min. 3 days a week for 2 year old preschool. There are no 2 year old preschools that I know of here, and even if there were, I probably wouldn't send her :) It's kinda not quite the same when all of your friends are somewhere else. So, that being said... we started school at our house this week! So far, so good from my little willing participant, who at this point loves ANY type of fun, school related activity :)
Tracing letter A, circling letter A and writing letter A
Fun with shaving cream!
We made an apple and learned that they can be red, green or yellow, have seeds inside and are a fruit.

Where's Dora?

So, I just thought I would humor you with a tiny recap of "Dora's Big Birthday Adventure" that was taking place at Walmart today. Well... just for fun, we had to scope it out. I made sure not to make a big deal out of it. The website said there would be cupcakes, but I made sure not to tell Kenadie that, just in case there weren't. On our way, I told her where we were going, with as little enthusiasm in my voice so that she didn't get TOO EXCITED, I wouldn't want her to be disappointed in her favorite character's birthday ya know?

Well, we head to the toy department because that was where the party was at :) Would you believe that there was a sign on the "birthday set-up table" that said "On Break"!!! HA! We strolled around for a bit and returned to a worker passing out Dora cupcakes. I was quite impressed that the cupcakes were actually regular size and were EVEN complete with a Dora ring on top. As we are in a tiny line for our cupcake, I am trying to answer my favorite two year old's questions like "Where is Dora?", "Where are the candles?", "Do we get to hide and say SURPRISE?"... all while trying to keeping a straight face, because she was very serious about this party and I surely didn't want to hurt her feelings :)Kenadie enjoyed her cupcake and especially the ring! Not too sure that she realized we "attended" a party because when we finished our grocery shopping and were leaving the store, she asked "Do we get to go to Dora's birthday party?" :)

"Awww..."

When it is fitting and appropriate, we try to talk about "the baby that is going to come live with us in Feb." to Kenadie. In which she is always sure to add, "the girl baby" or "a baby sister", to which I always reply "But a baby brother would be fun too, right?" which she normally nods yes to :) So, last night Aaron asked Kenadie "Do you know how big our baby is?" in which she smiled and just appeared teased. He held up his hands to show her, which according to my book, it says that the baby is about the size of a fist, whose fist we don't know?:)? In her most girly, sweet and adorable voice she responds with "awwwwwwwwwww....." a very long and drawn out "awwww..." at that :) Needless to say, we thought it was very cute! Then he proceeds to ask her "Do you know where the baby is?" and in her most giddy, excited voice she says "at the doctor!!! :)" And so for now, that's where our baby is... at the doctor :) We opted to not throw her off too bad by completely confusing her :)

Here is a picture of just a tiny few of the things that baby #2 has prompted me to buy. I typically get something in my head that I want, and once I have had it one time, I'm pretty much over it. However, the jelly beans may be here to stay for a while, as Kenadie has benefited from those too :)

Have a great weekend! I think we may happen upon Walmart tomorrow somewhere between the hours of 11am and 4pm for what is supposedly going to be Dora's Birthday party... we shall see :)

Hard At Work

Here is Kenadie hard at work, coloring at the kitchen table... or so I thought.
She sure did seem pretty still and quiet, so when I peeked around on the other side, this is actually what she was doing...I guess we'll just have nap time a little early, this was even before lunch :)

Coloring, drawing, painting, cutting etc. are all frequent activities in our home. This is my new favorite drawing that I have proudly displayed on our refrigerator.Kenadie has started adding legs, arms(sometimes) and hair to the people she draws :) The picture is hard to see, so click on it for a bigger and even cuter picture. It's the first family portrait I've been able to rescue before she "colors" all through it! Last night at church, when we were picking her up from the nursery, she walked out the door with her bag and two pictures she had drawn. The worker then held up a stack of about 20+ pages and asked if I wanted those too,ha! That's my little artist :)

Tu Tus and Twirls

It's so hard to believe we are going from this...To this...I'm sure all Moms, when you find out you're having a little girl, your mind goes straight to dance lessons and all things pink, or at least mine did anyway :) I am so excited about Kenadie starting dance, but at the same time, you guessed it... I'm a little sad that my baby girl is old enough for this :( I received an email recently from a children's clothing company, whom I like to order from, announcing that they were now carrying dance attire. Of course I just HAD to order the most adorable leotard, and would you believe who started to cry before she made the purchase??? ME!!! You would think I was sending my baby to Kindergarten :) Whew... at least it is JUST dance :)

My Mom, Kenadie and I finished up our dance shopping yesterday with all the necessary articles/accessories. I think we are officially ready! Now, for one excited little girl to wait one month for it to start :)

A New Favorite Picture

Well, if you haven't heard by now, baby #2 will be here early February 2011! We are super excited! I am 13 weeks, and as of a week ago, I can now say I feel good. Yay! Kenadie had me spoiled a bit, as I never not once had the slightest touch of nausea with her. My main feeling with her, and this baby too, is that I NEVER feel hungry! NEVER! or, it would take me a really, really, really long time to feel hungry and I have to REALLY think long and hard as to what I am going to eat. Those of you who read my last post may be making the connection now as to why we ate at I Hop for breakfast and Goldpost for dinner :) I guess they just sounded "good."

Have a great weekend!!!
