How to NOT turn 30!!!

Well, seeings how my 30th birthday was two weeks ago, I guess I was thinking if I never blogged about it, then I could kinda pretend it never really happened...  But, seeings how this is a record keeping location for my family, I guess I'll just go with it!  Now, before you think I have issues with a number or something, that is totally not the problem!  I'm happy that God has allowed me to make it to 30, and considering that it has been a healthy, happy journey to get to this point, how could I complain :)  That being said, I'd be lying if I didn't throw in right here that 10 years ago, yes, indeed I thought that people who were 30, were old!  Now I know that they weren't!  And all those people who are 10 years older than me, just suddenly became a lot younger :)

Alright, so let's talk about how turning 30 actually went.  By now, you might have picked up on the fact that I have a sweet husband, and that he is!  He kept trying to plan my birthday, I couldn't get really interested in it for some reason, but we finally settled on going to Mobile for the night, with children, swimming in the pool at the hotel and then having fun at the Exploreum on Saturday.  We stayed at  The Battle House Hotel, and it was really nice!  You may be wondering what was so wrong with my birthday... well just let me tell ya!

It's Friday, around 4:30 pm, Aaron got off a little early, and we are headed to Mobile to swim at the hotel.  Kenadie LOVES the water, and had been in swimming lessons all week, so she was super excited about the swimming pool!  On our way, the first little issue was just simply that we stopped at the wrong McDonald's.  Is there even a right one, I'm thinking not, but this one was just not the one I would stop at again.  Next, it rained the entire way, and basically never stopped until we returned home on Saturday!  Bummer!!!  So now, we've stopped at the wrong McDonald's and we don't get to swim because the pool is closed due to the weather :(  We chose McDonald's because we were trying to be quick to get to the pool, and now it's about 7:00 and we are wishing we hadn't wasted our dinner on McDonald's!!!

The girls sure enjoyed playing in the room and all over the hotel though!  Note this as one of the positives from the weekend :)  It gets much worse!
Okay, so fast forward a few hours and it's time to go to bed.  I lay down on my pillow, all is quiet, except for this dog that is apparently in the room next door!  What???  It wasn't like barking that would keep you up all night, but still... barking!!!  Call me old school, my issue was just I didn't think that after paying whatever it was to stay at this place, that we should have to hear a dog barking!!!  The next problem we encounter is due to mine and Aaron's stupidity!  We thought, no need to take the pack-n-play, it's just one night, Berkley can just sleep with us.  WRONG!!!!!!!  OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!  I got NO sleep!  It was AWFUL!!!!!  But, it gets worse!  Probably around midnight, Aaron and I have gotten no sleep, he starts to feel sick, and stays camped out in the bathroom for a while, thinking he's going to throw up!  He comes out, we reshuffle the bed situation to put him in the bed alone in case he is sick, because we DON'T WANT whatever he thinks he has!!!  So now, it's me and Kenadie with Berkley in the middle!!!  Can it get any worse???  Why yes, I do believe it can!  Aaron never really follows through with his sickness, just kind of stays feeling nauseated and doesn't sleep well at all.

Then, morning comes, it's still raining, and Kenadie is the only one who got a good night's sleep!  Aaron says he thinks he's feeling some better, so we proceed with our plans of the Exploreum.  We went to Cracker Barrel for a late, late breakfast/early lunch, I guess that would make it brunch then :)  We're soaking wet... my hair looks horrible... Aaron isn't 100%, Berkley fell asleep on the way to Cracker Barrel, so we sit in the car until she wakes up because we KNOW that in order to make it through the Exploreum, she needs some sleep, because her night was SOOOOO BAD!!!!!  Kenadie is happily playing on the iPad, and Aaron and I are laughing about how horrible this little birthday weekend is going!  Can it get any worse???  It sure can!

We get to the Exploreum, in the pouring rain, kids are happy, but Mommy is still wishing her hair looked better :(  Some fun was had by all, Kenadie loved everything and Berkley loved everything more!!!  I notice the entire time Aaron keeps stretching his back throughout the whole museum.  He has a previous football injury, so he has back pain from time to time, but today it is just seeming worse!  Of course I have no medicine in my purse.  At some point Kenadie gets her face painted.  She chose a cat.  NO ONE would have ever known it was a cat, and as soon as we get away from the face painter, she wants it off because she doesn't want people to laugh at her :(  I feel sorry for her because I have never seen that side of her who cares what others think... I'm glad she has this feeling, but it was just a wee tad pitiful, especially if you know her :)
We did the museum, we're ready to go!  Now, just to find Aaron some medicine for his back because it's starting to hurt worse.  We get on the road, he gets some Bayer, and the back pain intensifies!!!  I'm now driving, in the rain, with my husband who is now in excruciating pain!!!  He's requesting I pull over, he's a little yellow-faced and just looks sick!  So, we're stopped in a church parking lot, Aaron is outside of the vehicle in HORRIBLE pain, all the while, in the rain!  I tell Kenadie we need to pray for Daddy's back!  I'm seriously thinking we aren't going to ever get home from this nightmare of a trip, and I've NEVER seen him acting like this!  We end up stopping 3 times for him to get out and try to get comfortable, all in the rain!  Our prayers worked because the pain let up some, and we got home, thank the Lord!  I'm no doctor, however, I've watched EVERY episode of Doc McStuffins, and that in itself entitles me to diagnosing him with a kidney stone!  We take the children to my parents and head to the ER!  I am a nervous wreck that we are going to encounter diseases, as well as seeing someone come in with their arm cut off!  Luckily, neither happened!!!
Aaron is no wimp :)  The doctor said he had three stones, with one being the size of half his thumb nail!  After about a four hour stay in the ER, we return home around midnight!  We'll fast forward two weeks, and Aaron had lithotripsy yesterday morning for the kidney stones.  Geez, that was SOME birthday, huh?  The fact that it ended with Aaron in the emergency room should have come as no surprise!  Sure hoping this is no sign of how my 30th year is going to go :)

And THAT, my friends, is how I celebrated my 30th birthday!!!  I'm thinking I deserve a re-do :)  Who's with me???
