Oodles Of Poodles

I'm still grasping tightly to the fact that my baby is still two, however; we had the BEST time celebrating her third birthday with all of her friends this past Saturday. Here is a recap of how the party went...First, we jumped and...dug for doggy bones until all of our friends arrived.
Then, we played Pin The Tail on the Poodle...Of course, the night before Kenadie's party, we were practicing how to play the game and when I pulled out the cute little polka dot mask I had made... um, yeah, it ALL went downhill from there :( She cried as if we were at a Dr. appointment, and seeings how that's the most pitifully she ever cries... it was pretty bad! However, in typical "girl-like" fashion, 20 minutes after the initial introduction to the polka dot mask that I described as a disaster... she was begging for the thing and didn't want to take it off??? :) I still decided to come up with plan B just in case others reacted the same way my little poodle did.How about let's try "magic" Tinkerbell glasses that you can't see out of because I covered the lens with construction paper :) Now that worked and everyone participated!Next, we had some fun getting the treats out of the poodle pinata...And then it was time to make a pink poodle...I mentioned in my previous post that I had pink hands... this would be the project that caused them-ha! FYI: despite reading reviews on how easy it is to dye your own cotton balls, BUY the things if they are in season! Apparently they are a spring item and nowhere to be found in stores during the fall months! I literally spent ALL day dying cotton balls pink. My first idea was to mist them with a water bottle with water and pink food coloring. That was a failed attempt because if they weren't hit dead on with the spray of water, it only turned them pink in the spots that were. Next, I had the great idea of taking them outside to do this so that they dried faster... Guess what happened with that... the sun dried up all their pink color, so I was left with pink cotton balls that dried white just like they originally started! Then, for my last attempt that actually worked, I mixed water and pink food coloring in a bowl and completely submerged the cotton balls in the pink water. Do you have any idea how long 200 fully submerged cotton balls takes to dry?? Oh, just about 30 hours... and that was with transferring them to new towels periodically as they soaked one and having your WONDERFUL husband dry them with a hair dryer :) He also had the great idea of putting them on cooling racks, that helped tremendously too! But, after all that, if I needed pink cotton balls again and they weren't in stores, I would do it all over again :)
We also made bracelets...
We sang "Happy Birthday"...and when we got to "Happy Birthday dear Kenadie", she turned to me and said "no Mommy, I'm a poodle." :) She must have been expecting "Happy Birthday dear Poodle..."There, I think that concludes Kenadie's party. Thanks to all of our friends and family that came to help make Kenadie's birthday so special!!! Now, I'm about to go treasure these last 12 days of having my sweet girl be two... and try to not do too much crying about it, time just passes too quickly!
